Napo Wildlife Centre

A community-owned lodge from which you can explore the rainforest on foot and by boat, and spend time with local Kichwa people.

Napo Wildlife Centre is fully owned by the local Kichwa Anangu Community in Yasuni National Park. From here you can explore the rich world of the rainforest and spend time with local people learning about their daily life in this unique environment.

Experienced naturalist guides lead walks along forest trails, stopping to point out insects, birds and monkeys, as well as canoe trips on the lake and water channels with chances of spotting caiman, giant otters and piranhas. For a higher perspective climb the 12-storey canopy tower to get a view out across the treetops, and spend time at the lodge’s ecological tower. A visit to the parrot clay lick and its attendant flocks of birds is bound to be a highlight, and time spent with the Kichwa community and at the Interpretative Centre will give you an insight into life in the rainforest.

Between times you can relax at the lodge, enjoying the tranquillity of its lakeside location. The main lodge has many social areas including the restaurant which serves local and international dishes, bar, library and terrace. Despite the remoteness of the setting you have round-the-clock electricity in your cabin, a ceiling fan to keep it cool and an en-suite bathroom with hot and cold running water. Each cabin has a private balcony overlooking the lake.
