Before you go

Pack light, and leave the rest in Quito

Maximum luggage allowance on the flight out to the islands is 20kg, so we recommend leaving the bulk of your luggage at your Quito hotel and taking only what you need for the islands themselves. Dress on the yachts is always casual, whatever the occasion. Do not forget your passport; you will need to show it more than once along the way.

Sun & sea

High-factor sunscreen, sunglasses, and a wide-brimmed sun hat that will not blow off on the boat.

Clothing

Two pairs of long cotton trousers, three pairs of shorts, t-shirts and long-sleeved cotton shirts, plus a fleece or jumper and a waterproof, windproof jacket for the evenings.

Footwear

Wading shoes or sandals with a strap, rather than flip-flops, plus hiking boots or shoes and a hiking stick.

Health & first aid

Toiletries and medications, including seasickness pills if you might need them, insect repellent, and a small first aid kit.

Gear

Good binoculars, camera gear, ideally something watertight, plenty of memory cards, and a small torch or head torch with spare batteries.

Extras

Swimwear and snorkelling gear, though most yachts carry gear on board, plus a day pack, a water bottle and some plastic bags.
